We feel awful to have overlooked our head of state among the POW images around us. She is on our stamps, coins and paper money. Formal portraits of Elizabeth II are rarer nowadays than in the pre-Trudeau era but can still be found in government offices, schools and other places (like Fort York armoury) if one troubles to look.
This image was pulled from promo material for the Queen West Art Crawl. We ignored the art because the thirst generated by living under cover as a working class idiot is often mighty fierce so we made for the entertainment stage right near the north entrance to the POWcityblog bunker where the Sleeman tent was located. Jesus, those little plastic cups hold more local lager than you think they do at first. Anyway, what a treat all the neighbourhood rockers. Especially Senior Casio, who brought it home despite the pouring rain. Ah, Poorkdale rock out with your raincoat out.
editor's note: watch Derek Jarman's 1977 punk movie Jubilee for its rendition of Rule Britannia
