(95) Queen Subway 1897

Some sort of corsetry sequence appeared almost exactly at the spot where we came across, and lost, Punk Rock Girl from posting number 5. There's still a gluey silhouette of PRG on the wall as well as in our hearts. It make take a while for this to grow on us as much. By the time we get around to liking this paper graff it may be long gone, such is the urban image swirl.

The Queen Subway is a nice piece of heavy infrastructure dating from the 1890s. In fact, it broke Poorkdale's back paving the way for annexation by Toryonto. This particular marriage was inevitable given the rule of Orange Lodge sleaze back in the day which saw Toryonto swallow every community around it ruthlessly. Having been rich and set with its own police department and pumping station Poorkdale fought Toronto's advances for many a year. In the end the cost of sinking Queen Nand King Streets below the level of five busy rail lines proved to be too much and the annexation went ahead. The jogging intersection here is set for major improvements and changes. We'll be watching.
