(123) Circus Maximus

For the Romans, the circus was part of the equation of urban and imperial power. So it is in our society as we discovered this afternoon in Etobicoke!!! An example of the perennial trailer-borne midway had just arrived and was preparing itself to distract the masses. As soon as the weather improves these caravans slum their way north to roost in the parking lots of obsolete, underperforming strip malls. They never quite edge their way into the city proper, preferring to lurk near the perimeters. This one was setting up shop as we happened by right on the Etobicoke!!!/Mississauga border near the West Mall in between the hulk of an abandoned Wal-Mart and a muffler shop. To be honest, we fervently hope the masses know they are gonna need a little more than this pretty soon.
