Concealment and cover (the two are not the same) have been tactical meat-and-potatoes at POWcityblog for decades. As the 'hood moves upscale technical adjustments have to be considered. At field level these adjustments are relatively minor but they bring with them enormous fiscal pressures. The Cray III supercomputer has been tasked of late with budgetary and general economic analysis. Preliminary findings indicate eco/petro apocalypse is around the corner and that the American economy is already on a gurney in the basement. Like it or not this era is dominated by economics: on the streets and in the bunker we call home.
Still, the local business improvers must get up in the morning and try to keep it together. This photo, from yesterday's flaneur in the wet snow, shows us one of their efforts. Perhaps where you live is the subject of neighbourhood branding exercises of this kind? The other banner in this Bathurst-to-Gladstone campaign shows a pug dog. We certainly don't fault this kind of thing. It's just that it was easier to avoid attention when the area was known for rooming houses and outpatients rather than designer PVC boots. Standby for further output from the Cray III.
editor's note: pugs are cute, a friend of mine worked in a vet clinic and one time a person came in with a basket full of pug puppies and it just about broke everybody's mind it was so cute.
